Gilded pine cones for the Christmas tree

A pine cone is such a simple treasure from nature, I actually think it doesn’t need to be improved - it is beautiful as it is.

But a Christmas tree, in my opinion, needs touches of red and gold, so I have taken some of the pine cones we collected over the years and added a little lustre to them with gilding wax (the smell of which I find pleasant but is to be enjoyed in small doses as it can lead to headaches).

Red velvet ribbons are luxurious and tactile, and looking at them makes me feel warm inside. Add a red velvet to anything and it will look beautiful and Christmassy.
