Weaver's knot - how to join threads
The weaver's knot is used in handicrafts to join a new piece of thread when your working thread becomes too short. When working with fabric, the knot enables you to maintain a consistent thread tension by securing the thread close to your last stitch.

1
Start by making a slip knot at one end of the new piece of thread. Insert the end of your old working thread into the loop of the slip knot.

2
Move the loop of the slip knot close to the surface of the fabric (where your old working thread emerges). This ensures that the knot stays on the wrong side of your work when you continue stitching.

3
Now pull the two ends of the new piece of thread away from each other - this closes up the slip knot around the old piece of thread.

4
As you pull the two ends apart, the loop of the slip knot will take the end of your old thread with it forming a tighter knot. You will feel this happening - I call it the 'flip' - as the slip knot trasnforms into a different type of knot. Do not skip this step, because if you do, the slip knot will just slide off the end of your old thread.
